If you’ve been putting off necessary dental treatment such as implants because of anxiety or dental phobia, we may have the perfect solution for you!

Sedation dentistry is an effective, safe, and efficient way to treat patients who have severe anxiety about going to the dentist, or even full blown dental phobia.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Patients sometimes fear that sedation dentistry means being unconscious-it doesn’t! With sedation dentistry you are fully conscious the whole time, you just don’t feel the anxiety and fear that you would otherwise.

This is not the same thing as general anesthesia since you will not be “knocked out”. You will be awake and aware, but feeling calm and relaxed.

Sedation dentistry can make you’re overall experience better, not just the procedure. By using an IV we can get you the exact right dosages of medication, leading to faster healing times. When you take oral medications, it’s harder to correct the dose. With IV sedation we can ensure you get the exact right dosage of all your medications, which will give you a quicker healing time with less pain and complications.

I will be able to talk to you during the procedure since you will be awake and aware of your surroundings the entire time. You won’t remember much about it later though, and for many of my patients this relieves a lot of stress and anxiety. You won’t feel any pain, and the procedure will seem to go by very quickly.

Why Get Sedation Dentistry?

If fear and anxiety are stopping you from getting much needed dental implants, then this could be the right option for you.

Putting off implant surgery can have serious consequences, and the longer you wait the more serious they become.

When you’re missing teeth, the remaining teeth start to move around more. This can cause problems if the bite becomes uneven. It can cause wear and tear on your other teeth, as well as strain your jaw.

Your overall health and wellness may suffer as a result of missing teeth as well. You may not be getting the proper nourishment as you have to avoid certain foods. Shame and social isolation often stems from missing teeth, and that can take its’ toll as well, leading to depression and anxiety.
